Earlier this month, the Pipebots team gathered at the ICAIR facility in Sheffield for a Sprint on Pipe Networks. The aim of the Sprint was to educate the academic team about piped water networks and their likely defects and to provide an opportunity to work collaboratively and to conceptually design improved integrated inspection systems for assessing pipe condition.
The team had some discussions on what a final robotic inspection system would need to do and what it might look like and had some practical sessions on assessing and understanding the network layout and location of any defects.
During the sprint, the pipebots team discussed the known and expected challenges to the water industry which could be aided by technologies developed within and after Pipebots. The outcomes from the discussions and practical activities will be written up which will inform the Roadmap which will be presented at the Pipebots Official Launch Event in London in November 2019.
