New Project: National Leakage Research and Test Centre (NLRTC)

Pipebots (University of Sheffield) has recently been awarded £146K as part of a large project led by Northumbrian Water Limited. The project ‘National Leakage Research and Test Centre (NLRTC)’ is funded by the funded by the OFWAT The innovation fund and involves 14 water companies, 2 universities (University of Sheffield and University of Southampton) and 2 research organisations (British Water and Isle Utilities).  The 5-year project aims to increase innovation capability and capacity by providing a large and realistic test water network and a fail-safe environment for innovators to experiment. Pipebots will contribute to this initiative by providing scientific advice, deployment of sensors with robots, laboratory experiments, data analysis and numerical simulations. The innovation fund is designed to help deliver against Ofwat’s strategy which highlights the role of innovation in meeting many of the challenges the water sector faces.
