Focus
Theme 7 (led by Rogers) is to explore right from the start and to trial technologies emerging from other spheres and to create the political, economic and social environment that would enable pervasive sensing to integrate seamlessly into practice. This Theme will provide a forum for radically new ideas to feed into this PG and deliver wider research impact. It will establish means of flexibly resourcing the competing requirements which will inevitably arise.
Challenges
For pervasive sensing to flourish and integrate with emerging technologies we must: (i) create a unique research capacity, grounded in trans-disciplinary team working; (ii) understand and map the dynamically evolving infrastructure and urban systems with which it interacts; (iii) explore and trial technologies emerging from other spheres; (iv) and create the political, economic and social environment that would enable pervasive sensing to integrate seamlessly into practice.
